Hi, my name is Jesse R. Knight.
I am a 3D artist. I started in the industry just out of highschool. I lived abroad in South Africa and Thailand for a number of years.. I returned to California about four years ago.. After a short time, I gained a position at Picture Shop, LLC, where I produced animation for television.
What I Do
My first Industry job was as a 2D animator at Geisler Graphics. The project was a series of animated comic panels. The shots told the story of ancient artifacts. The show was called Legend Quest, which aired on SciFi. Other artists would create matte paintings, give them depth, and add cameras. My job was to take the AfterEffects scenes, containing the assets, and animate the characters and objects. The project was really interesting and was a great way to break into the VFX scene.
I later transitioned to 3d Animation. I've been working with Andres Gonzalez, a long time friend, to learn 3dsMax and Maya. After months of training, we set out to complete my first 3D project. The project was a couple of shots of a helicopter car chase scene. The assets and cameras were provided to me. My job was to animate the car and helicopters moving through the scenes. Now we are moving into rigging and character animation, which is ultimately where my interests lie.
After studying animation and rigging, I landed a studio job as a seasonal artist at PictureShop. When the season ended, I signed on full time with them. While there, I spent a year animating for a number of TV shows including Walking Dead, Hawaii 5-0, MacGyver, Magnum PI and many more.
Durring the 2020 pandemic, I moved into doing independent contract work for a number of years. Growing as a generalist accross multiple 3d DCCs (Max, Maya, Unreal).
In 2022 I returned to the studio (Ghost VFX), taking on animation, rigging and crowd simulation tasks.
My Mission
To create stunning 3D art and continue my journey as an artist, learning new methods and skills.
